How to be productive!

It's been a while and I've been working hard and being productive! This month has been filled with creating videos, writing content, doing an outline for a book and coaching individuals and groups! Being busy and productive has made me a very happy (and accomplished) camper!

I had an inkling to write a blog today about being productive and how to use the hours in any day more efficiently.

The last two days I have had basically the same amount of work to do, same amount of out of office meetings and same amount of hours to do it all in, but there was one HUGE difference....

ON MONDAY I CREATED A PLAN AND ON TUESDAY I DID NOT!!!

And guess which day I was more productive???

That's right....on Monday I was efficient, driven, focused and motivated--while on Tuesday I was sluggish, I didn't get much actually completed and I drifted A LOT!!!

When you have a lot to get done (and interestingly enough, even more so when you have less tasks to get done) it is extremely important to create a plan so you can be productive. I'm not talking an elaborate multiple points, flow chart, colour coordinated plan....

A plan can be as simple as a list of the 5-10 things you want to do that has been prioritized! For reference, here's what my plan on Monday looked like...

Monday's BE PRODUCTIVE Plan:
1) Send email to Feist for Life 2011 members
2) Write 400 word article for Sweatmarks.com (women's bootcamp fitness company)
3) Respond to Networking Events coordinator's invite for collaboration
4) Hospital Visit (a friend of mine just had surgery)
5) Go to Chiropractic appointment
6) Go to yoga class
7) Go to aesthetics appointment (bikini wax even got priority today!)

EASY!!! 7 tasks, all got done and I still had time to get all prettied up for a Valentine's Dinner!! :)

So whether you have a lot or a little to get done in a day, start it of with a short and simple plan of what you need to accomplish and then take action! You will be far more productive and successful in the short and long term.
